Buying Data Center Generators: Data Center World Interview with Bob Formicola

This past March, Lifeline Data Centers attended the Data Center World in Las Vegas and conducted this Data Center World Video Interview Series with some of today’s most skilled and knowledgeable data center experts.

We interviewed Bob Formicola, the Kohler Power Systems Senior Sales Executive at Bay City Electric Works (BCEW), a premier distributor of emergency generator systems, automatic transfer switches and paralleling switchgear. Their branch locations span throughout Southern California and they are a leading distributor of Kohler Power Systems within this area.

In this video, Bob details the considerations a company should make when purchasing generators. He recommends ensuring that the generator is sized properly and making an educated decision as to whether or not you want to use diesel or natural gas. BCEW works to help companies find the right generator for their needs. They work to research the ideal size for the generator set, taking into account enclosure, sound, fuel tank, fuel type and the like.

Bob also details the trends he is witnessing in the industry. He says that customers are concerned with both sound emissions and also exhaust emissions. To this end, BCEW has endless experience in recommending the best generator sets in order to fit the exact needs of each individual company.
