Indiana Data Center Expert to Address Resolving Risky Data Center Issues Through RCM at Data Center World Conference

The Indianapolis co-owner of the largest ultra-high-availability data center in the Midwest will address risk assessment and risk management as applied to designing, building, and managing a data center during the global Data Center World Conference, here.

Rich Banta of Lifeline Data CentersRich Banta, co-owner of Lifeline Data Centers (www.lifelinedatacenters.com), will present observations and experiences on:

  • The history of reliability centered maintenance
  • RCM as a tool for managing risk in the data center
  • How RCM can manage supplier quality
  • How to convey RCM value to your client’s enterprise risk managers and CFOs.

Banta and Alex Carroll, his fellow co-owner, converted an abandoned 41-acre shopping mall on the east side of Indianapolis into a mega-sized highly-available data center and high tech office complex. Lifeline serves hundreds of companies in health care, software, utilities, life sciences, cloud computing and government.

The discussion, ITM 16.1, is during the Data Center World break-out discussions, Thursday, April, 19 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. (Pacific.) Other panel participants are Donald Byrne and John Pyne. The theme of the discussion is managing the risky data center.

The panel will address how data center managers and operators may be confronted by risks — physical and cyber-based — whether they use external colo sites or internal facilities.

This session will explore the risks threatening data centers and provide a methodology for prioritizing hazard mitigation measures. Drawing on insights provided by international standards such as TIA 942, SS507 and RCM, attendees will learn how to identify and assess risks, formulate responses, and manage the cost of proper preparedness. The result is a more robust and resilient data center that offers the flexibility and up-time performance businesses demand.
