Modern Infrastructure’s Bright Ideas

Modern Infrastructure recently launched its Bright Idea Award for those innovators that have shaken up the data center industry. These are the game changers that have the strength, power and daring to introduce revolutions in the data center market place. Here is a report on the brightest leaders that have the conviction of bringing about business and technical transformation.

Modern Infrastructure's Bright IdeasOne of the nominations in this category was the IT Continuity Architect from the Neverfail Group. This is an intelligent software product that gives IT and business departments a realistic view on the risks associated with their business continuity programs. This product automates the analysis of IT infrastructure, tracks changes, maps dependencies and allows IT to set targets for recovery point and recovery time and objectives per application. The dashboard plugs into the VMware vSphere Web Client and gives an integrated and visual view of the data center infrastructure.

Another bright nomination was the SwiftTest Workload Insight Manager from Load Dynamix. This product serves as a big boon for architects and engineers, giving them an in-depth insight into workload management. What is interesting is that this product gives a view of the live I-O traffic that leads to better real-time decision-making. Another important feature is the ability to simulate tests. The GUI (graphical user interface) is easy to use and administrators can create test beds, run tests and then analyze the results.

And the undoubted winner in the bright ideas category was PernixData FVP. This solution solves the problem of IO performance bottlenecks by running inside the server hypervisor. The concept behind this solution is to decouple performance from capacity, so that whatever be the base capacity, performance can always be optimized. This product is easy to deploy, the increase in performance is extremely visible, and users have acclaimed that it is very stable and mature. Not bad for a product that was recently launched.

The Bright Ideas category brings in a lot of freshness and innovation into the data center industry. The data center industry is gearing for greater growth, thanks to all the momentum created by these ‘Bright’ players in the market.
