IndyStar.com: Committee OKs lease for operations center

The City of Indianapolis moves one step closer to relocating Regional Homeland Security and city/county law enforcement agencies to Midwest data center provider Lifeline Data Centers’ Eastgate campus. Lifeline Data Centers offers Midwest colocation and technology office space on a 41 acre campus at the site of the former Eastgate Mall.

A City-County Council committee on Tuesday endorsed a proposal to lease a building that will consolidate the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s East District headquarters and an emergency operations facility.

The 76,000-square-foot Regional Operations Center is being built by the proposed landlord at the former Eastgate Consumer Mall at Shadeland Avenue and Washington Street.

The proposal, which the Administration and Finance Committee advanced to the full council, would authorize a 25-year lease.

Residents who live near Eastgate attended the meeting and applauded the 7-0 vote.
